Apologies for being MIA the past few days. If you’ve been following my Instagram, you would have seen that I was in Cebu and Bohol for the 2nd Ambassador’s Tour and I was pretty busy working my butt off, helping the embassy out while enjoying the beautiful sites of my home country. While helping out at the tour was fun and I admit that I learned a lot, I gotta say that it was pretty tiring. I was getting 4 hours of sleep every night and was moving around all day. Prior to that was the ASEAN Summit here in KL and in Langkawi – the husband and I would often sleep at 2 in the morning and get up 4 hours later. You could imagine how that took a toll on my skin.
By the time I got back in from the Ambassador’s Tour, my skin was dry and rather dull. The bags under my eyes were at a really bad state and you can totally tell that I was tired even if you were a mile away. Okay, I’m exaggerating. But seriously – my skin was in bad shape. And then I remembered that I was recently given a product that promises to hydrate and give my skin the boost that it needs but before I tell you how it has worked for me the past few days, let me do a little bit of back tracking. 😉
Laneige, a Korean brand that I’ve always heard great reviews of, recently invited me to the launch of their new Water Sleeping Mask. All my friends were talking about Laneige products lately – the BB Cushion, the Two-Tone Lip Bar, etc. I guess it was finally time to see what the fuss is all about. After all, Koreans do have a reputation of really knowing skin care. 😉
During the launch, we were given an overview of the product and my first thought was: Which rock have I been hiding under these past few years?
The Laneige Water Sleeping Pack has been around since 2002. It has gone through several make overs the past few years and now – in 2015 – we are given the all new Water Sleeping Mask. A product that promises not just to hydrate and moisturise your skin as if you’ve had 8 hours of sleep (when in reality, you only slept for 4 hours due to that House of Cards marathon. Lol.), it will also help you to actually have deep, relaxing sleep.
It promises to restore and repair damaged skin cells by offering continuous hydration through the night. Now that got me totally interested!
Did you ever notice how your skin looks way better when you’ve had enough sleep? I know I have. It’s brighter, supple, and smooth. Oh, and makeup glides smoothly and stays put longer. It is next to impossible to have a great makeup look when your skin is all dull and haggard. It’s just not smooth and hydrated enough!
So what makes this baby different from my other overnight masks and moisturisers? While the technology and ingredient list are impressive (SLEEP-TOX, Hunza Apricot Extracts, Evening Primrose, Moisture Wrap Technology, etc), it is the “Sleepscent” that this product comes with that has got me addicted to it!
Sleepscent is a term patented by Laneige to refer to the exclusive fragrance of the Water Sleeping Mask. The scent is actually a mixture of the orange fruit flower, rose, ylang-ylang, and sandalwood oil.
It helps improve the quality of your sleep. In fact, they promise sleep so deep, you would hardly move. This part, I found to be quite unbelievable. But when I used this the past two nights, it actually delivered! I didn’t push Alvin towards the edge of his side of the bed while we were sleeping! Yes, I tend to hog the sheets and the space as well. 😛
I also got my husband who gets weird dreams (ranging from funny, downright weird, action-packed, and even scary ones sometimes) every single night to try it and he had a peaceful, dreamless sleep!
I gotta say, I am in love with this product as of the moment. After the first use, I saw significant improvements in my skin’s hydration levels. Makeup was clinging to my skin better and my skin just generally feels supple and a lot more healthier. It’s like actually getting 8 hours of sleep after spending a day at the spa.
As for the texture, it’s more of a gel type. Applying it on your face is a dream – it’s smooth and glides ever so easily. It leaves a slightly wet but non-sticky feel and gets absorbed by your skin pretty fast.
During the launch, we were also taught how to get optimum results from the product. Before applying, you have to inhale the product’s scent first to help you loosen up. For an even more relaxing experience, apply the Water Sleeping Mask starting from the inner parts to the outer parts of your face.
Using the product for a lymph node massage can also help you to lessen the tension:
- Press both sides of your nose (near the eyebrows) with your fingers and slide it down towards the end.
- Massage the product around your eyes starting from the inner corner area towards the outer corners.
- Press your fingers on your inner cheeks (by the sides of your nose) and slide going through the lower part of your cheekbone all the way to the ears.
- And lastly, press your fingers on the centre of your jawbone (right under the chin) and slide it outwards until you reach the bottom of your ears.
I’ve tried it myself and it really does help a lot to get you to relax. Especially after that long, tiring day that’s got you so worked up, you still can’t sleep once you get home.
Now we move on to the Lip Sleeping Mask!
While most of us girls do take the time to cleanse, tone, and moisturise the skin on our face, our lips never really do get the same amount of love. Sure, I do exfoliate and use lip balm even at night but sometimes, you just need to give your puckers a little extra. 😉
Enter Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask. It’s for cases when your lip balm is not enough or when you just want to treat yourself. 😉 It also contains the same Moisture Wrap technology – a porous moisture film that locks in hydration through the night – as the Water Sleeping Mask and what Laneige calls a Berry Mix Complex made up of 8 different types of antioxidant-rich berries: Raspberry, Strawberry, Cranberry, Blueberry, Gojiberry, Soapberry, Cloudberry, and Coffeeberry.
It’s soothing and contains Vitamin C to restore your lips to its full, hydrated self.
Like the Water Sleeping Mask, you apply the Lip Sleeping Mask and leave it on for the night. When you wake up, just wipe it off before you go take a shower. It’s that simple.
It comes with a silicone applicator to help you in applying the product on to your lips. It also smells sweet and fruity. The only downside to this product? Goodnight kisses should be done in advance. 😉 Oh, and if you want to take the lip care even further, Laneige also introduced the All-New Waterproof Tinted Lipbalm that comes in 3 colours.
The Water Sleeping Mask retails for RM110 (Php1363.90, EUR27.09, USD30.53) and the Lip Sleeping Mask is at RM70 (Php867.42, EUR17.24, USD19.43). While prices may seem a bit steep, it should be taken into account that they can last you for quite a while! Especially the Lip Sleeping Mask as you only need a small amount for every application.
Oh, and here’s where it gets better. For every purchase of the Water Sleeping Mask, Laneige will be giving you a limited edition Good Night Teddy Bear. See the photo above! Isn’t he cute? And he smells just like the product so you can take him to bed with you to help you maintain your deep sleep! 😉
Also, RM10 of the proceeds will also go to Laneige’s Waterful Sharing Campaign an initiative to bring clean, drinking water to children’s homes. Beauty with a good cause! Makes the purchase even better, right?
I highly recommend both products as they worked so well for me – with my husband too who has very sensitive skin! I love making him try new products as much as trying them out myself! 😉
If you’d like to try the Water Sleeping Mask for yourself, then you’re in luck! Laneige is giving away samples here. 😉
And there you have it. Another skin care review! 😀 Let me know what you girls think of this product too! More later, loves!
P.S. Any typos, misplaced and missing words? Ugh. If there are, sorry about that. It’s late here in KL and I really need to get some quality zzz! Time to put the Water Sleeping Mask on. 😉
