As somebody who often writes about beauty, I get approached to try out new products quite often. To be honest, nothing much surprises or even piques my interest these days as things tend to get a bit repetitive in the beauty scene.
There, I said it.
Quite a number of times, I’ve encountered products that seem promising but end up being gimmicky – much to my disappointment. So I end up not writing about them because they’re just a waste of time and effort.
Recently, however, I got to know of Japanese beauty company Tansan Magic. At first, I was quite reluctant due to my said experience with some gimmicky products these past few months that left me in a beauty rut. But knowing that the Japanese do beauty products and treatments really well, I thought of giving it a go.
I was sent the Soda Spa Foam and the Sparkling Gelee – two products that you can use both on your skin and hair to make them squeaky clean and hydrated. Just two of the things I truly need on a daily basis.
Tansan Magic Soda Spa Foam
I was quite fascinated with this one upon reading the directions on how to use it and what it can do for me. It promises to go deep when it comes to cleaning the skin and the scalp without being too abbrassive on my skin.
The product comes in a 150g, pink tube with a nozzle for the foam. All Tansan Magic products are made in Japan but don’t worry – the distributors in Asia provide English instructions on how to use it as well as relevant literature on the product.
It’s a pretty straightforward product that you can use as a next level, skin-cleaning agent. After washing your face and patting it dry, you shake the tube really well then press the nozzle to release some foam on to your clean hands.
Then, you apply a thick, even coat on your skin. Massage it in, using gentle pressure and leave it on for five minutes before rinsing it off. While the foam is on your skin, you will feel the tiniest hint of bubbling and your skin will also feel just a wee bit warm – but nothing too uncomfortable.
I’ve also been using it on my dry hair, applying it before my scheduled wash. I leave it on for 5 minutes as well then rinse it thoroughly before going in with my usual shampoo and conditioner routine during my shower. I also add a hair mask if I’m going for a full on bath, while soaking in a tub.
I fell in love with this product quite quickly after seeing its effect on my skin and hair as it really does make sure that you get to clean them well. We all know that dirt build up never did anyone good. 😉
After rinsing it off my face, I noticed that my pores looked like somebody went in there for some spring cleaning. My scalp also felt really cool and fresh.
This product actually uses carbonated spring water from the Sengakukan hot springs in Osaka, Japan. These hot springs are known for their carbonated water, with small bubbles sticking on to your skin while you bathe in them. The carbon dioxide, once absorbed by the skin, helps to dilate capillaries and improve blood circulation while cleaning out your pores. Now that’s another good reason to visit Japan soon, right?
But since we all can’t go and fly to Japan every time (although I wish I can especially after reading The Finger Post’s article on Kumamoto) we need a thorough cleaning for great-looking skin and hair, the Soda Spa Foam is definitely a good alternative.
My skin not only looks cleaner but feels that way too. My moisturising products that I apply after get absorbed a lot quicker and feel more effective. Same with the hair, I feel like the my hair products are working better after every use of this product.
Tansan Magic Sparkling Gelee
The Sparkling Gelee is the perfect product to complement the Soda Spa Foam. It’s a moisturiser that you can use both on your skin and hair as it contains hyaluronic acid.
The hyaluronic acid hydrates both the skin and hair really well and helps retain moisture throughout the day as well – no caking makeup and no frizz by 4pm!
I loved this so much for my hair that’s been suffering from colour damage. :'( It makes it shinier and brings the bounce back to my curls which are normally dry and limp these days.
You can use it on slightly damp hair before going in with your hair dryer or hot tools to do some styling. These things often dry out your strands and damage your hair in the long run. However, using the Sparkling Gelee lets your mane stay moisturised for a longer period of time and keeps damage at bay.
On days when you don’t wash your hair, you can also use this to bring back some gloss and shine to it. The people behind Tansan Magic also claim that the gelee is also helpful to people who are having dandruff and scalp problems so if you’re having some issues in that department, this may just be the solution that you’re looking for.
It takes around 5 minutes for the gelee to be completely absorbed by your hair and skin. I’ve been using it for a while now and I noticed that it works well with my ultra-dry and sensitive skin that needs to be moisturised regularly.
