I often complain about my dry skin here on the blog and in real life. If you know me personally, I bet you would be so tired of hearing it by now. However, it is my main skin problem (along with dark under-eye circles) so I do tend to fixate on it.

Whenever a product comes out that promises to provide my skin with more hydration and elasticity, I immediately want to try it and see whether it would work wonders. It’s a never ending cycle in my life to be honest.

During the past few months, a couple of beauty blogger friends have been telling me about Canadian brand Indeed Labs and their skin care range. I’ve heard so much about it from them so it was only a matter of time till I try it. And so I did. I took a break from the Guerisson Horse Oil Cream I’ve been using for approximately 3 weeks during late November up to early December and tried out Indeed Labs’ Hydraluron Skin Care Range.

But before I go into the review, a little background on the brand.

It all began with Dia Foley and a TV appearance which made her realise how unforgiving HD cameras can be. She expressed the need for “instant, flawless, HD camera ready skin”. And who wouldn’t want that, right? 😉

No need to stressing over makeup. Application would be easy-breezy and fuss free. No need to wish for camera lens that automatically has beauty filters. 😉 I had the same wish back when I was working as a TV reporter. Back when we were training, I made the mistake of not wearing any makeup to one of our on cam exercises and while I was pretty confident about my skin’s condition, the HD lens of the camera maximised every pore, fine line, and the dark circles were 3 times worse than in person. Needless to say, I learned my lesson that day and have been cautious of HD cameras ever since.

Dia Foley and Indeed Labs, meanwhile, turned that instance into something good and produced Nanoblur – a patented technology that will be present later on in some of their products and will help women get smooth, healthy skin.

The range  from Indeed Labs that I recently tried boasts of high concentration of hyaluronic acid – a powerful humectant that’s also produced by the body and helps in regenerating skin cells that will firm it up and keep you looking young.

There are three products in the range:

The Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask, the Hydraluron Moisture Jelly,  and the Hydraluron Serum. These three work hand in hand to moisturise your skin. Let me give you the low down on each of them starting with the serum.

Hydraluron Serum

The recent boom when it comes to the popularity of serums was surprising yet not really unexpected. I was one of those people who were hesitant to try it at first, thinking that these new products are yet another marketing strategy to just get me to spend more. I already had my moisturiser. Why do I need more?

Of course, I was wrong. Not afraid to admit it now since I’ve turned away from my snooty ways of trying to resist new products all the time. Granted that there are a lot out there that are just plain gimmicky, I now admit that serums are a must.

They penetrate your skin, reaching deeper than the surface. They also boost the effects of your moisturiser, making it work harder in hydrating your skin. I found my skin looking and feeling bouncier after I started with serums and I never looked back.

While serums are not at all meant to work by itself, this one in particular actually has instant hydrating effects. It’s of slightly dense gel consistency that is easily applied and is absorbed within seconds by your skin.

I tried it on my right hand first before taking the product home and indeed – the serum (without even using the moisturiser) kept my hand hydrated till we got home around hours later.

I loved using this product for three weeks as a little always went a long way. It’s never sticky and the fact that it only takes a couple of seconds to be fully absorbed, shortens my night time beauty regimen.

Hydraluron Moisture Jelly

The star of the show and what most people are raving about is the Moisture Jelly.

I knew of a couple of people who have been using this by itself and were perfectly happy with it. I used it with the serum and it worked really well. My skin stays hydrated all night and when I wake up in the morning, it looks refreshed.

Mind you, the latter part of November plus the early part of December was extremely busy for my husband and I. We were pummelled with events and some we had to help organise. I also had a couple of writing assignments so I was usually up till the wee hours of the morning and up and about just 3-4 hours later. It was so stressful that I was actually afraid for my skin.

However, the Hydraluron range did pull through. Pumping my skin with hyaluronic acid helped a lot!

One more thing I love about this product is the packaging. You push the top part down and out comes the moisture jelly. Totally beats the usual tub packaging when it comes to hygiene! (Just wipe the top part where the jelly comes out after every use. Your fingers always carry germs and you wouldn’t want them to incubate there!)

Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask

Last, but certainly not the least is the mask. Packed with hyaluronic acid that’s slowly released on your skin overtime.

This makes for better hydration and longer relief from dryness of the skin.

After leaving it on for 15 minutes, going to bed, then checking my skin the next morning, it’s obvious that the mask was extremely hydrating and while I wore it, I felt that it was quite soothing as well.

It is recommended that the mask is used twice a week for maximum results.

What about breakouts?

A couple of people I know who have oily skin complained of slight breakouts after using this and some other products from different brands that have high concentration of hyaluronic acid. This powerful ingredient is indeed known to cause this. That’s why I would recommend this product to people whose main concern is dryness of the skin. If you have oily skin, better to do a patch test first before actually going full on and trying out this range.

Now, the fun part!
