When it comes to taking care of my lips, I often go all out. After all, I’m pretty prone to windburns and chapped lips every time we travel to cold areas. I’m the type who exfoliates lips twice a week and will never be caught dead without lip balm in her purse. Gotta take care of the puckers lest I won’t have any use for my ever-growing lipstick collection. đ
I love lip balms as much as I love lipsticks. In fact, I never apply lipstick on my lips without applying lip balm first â especially with matte formula lip colours. Choosing the right lip balm is definitely a must for me and a brand (originally from Japan) that was recently launched here in KL called Chu Lip is seriously making its way to my list of favourites.
Been hearing so many good things about it the past few weeks but only got to try it for myself at their Pimp My Chu Lip event in Kare Cafe over the weekend. (Thanks to Tammy for the invite! *kiss*)
Chu Lip lip balms come in a rounded tear-drop-shaped, twist-to-open packaging. It looks a bit similar to EOS lip balms but is actually cuter as it’s got its own lips on the front. It comes in four scents/flavours:
- Pink (Paris Perfect Memories) â raspberry and peach
- Red (New York Brilliant My Way) â apple, ginger, tea rose
- Purple (Arabian Floral Shower) â rose, germanium, and clove
- Green (Nordic Fancy Nostalgia) â orange, lime, and mango
I’ve been using my Red Chu Lip since Saturday and so far, it’s been doing a great job in keeping my lips hydrated â even with the most drying lipsticks on top. đ I also apply some on my lips at night to keep them moisturised. Chu Lip lip balms glide smoothly and smell so good that applying it on my lips is slowly becoming an addiction.
The event over the weekend was not only to introduce Chu Lip to the media and bloggers in KL but to get everyone to join the #PimpMyChuLip contest.
The event was held at Kare Cafe in 1 Utama. A furniture/decor store and cafe with some of the coolest pieces I’ve seen in Malaysia. I was quite early for the event so I was able to look around. I seriously wanted to take some of the pieces home despite knowing that they’ll take up too much space in our condo.
That funky wine rack is something I would really go back for after saving up. To be honest, Kare Cafe’s products don’t come cheap but they make up for it with the design and oomph that each piece will bring into any home. đ I think the Chu Lip team did a great job in choosing a venue for the event. It goes with the funky/girly vibe that the Chu Lip brand has.
The event started with an introduction to Chu Lip and the contest that they are running â #PimpMyChuLip. Fans of the lip balm brand are encouraged to let their creative juices flow and get a chance to win a 16GB iPad Mini 3.
How, you say? It’s pretty simple:
- Get crafty! Pimp up your Chu Lip lip balm
- Snap a photo of it
- Upload it to the Chu Lip website (http://www.chulip.com.my/pimpmychulip/)
- Add a caption
- Wait for the announcement of winners!
That day, all 50 girls at the event were treated to a craft workshop of sorts where we were given essential tools to Pimp up our Chu Lip lip balms. It was quite fun for all of us but truth be told, I’m not a crafty person (I love art â talking about it, writing about it, interviewing artists. In fact, people often tell me that I have pretty good taste. But alas, my hands were never that creative). So mine ended up looking like this:
It’s a disco Chu Lip! LOL. Not the best work in the crowd, I must say. But I was never hopeful to begin with knowing the ability (or lack thereof) of my fingers.
Nevertheless, it was a fun experience! I even got to hang out with some friends and met new ones. <3 That day, we were also asked to vote for the best looking Pimped Up Chu Lip lip balms.
I met pretty Mira that day and was so happy when her unique â I say unique because she went for a black/silver theme while most of us went for a more girly approach in decorating our Chu Lip lip balms â was part of the shortlist for that day.
And before I end this post, here’s a mandatory group photo with some of the girls at the event. I already linked Mira (2nd from L) and Tammy (4th from L) and in case you’re curious how their lip balms turned out, I suggest you click and make their way to their blogs as they will be posting about those soon: Syafiera (Far Left), Ella (3rd from R), Anis (2nd from R), and Miriam (Far Right).
Don’t forget to join the #PimpMyChuLip contest which runs until the 31st of March! <3
More later.
Love,
Carol
