Beauty + Review: Tarteist Contour Palette

Hello, my loves. I’m back once again with a palette review for you guys. I know what you may be thinking right now and I agree with you.

I don’t need another contouring product but alas – Tarte got to me. I recently got the Tarteist Contour Palette because I easily cave like that. To be honest, I was actually thinking long and hard whether to go for the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette or this one. The decision wasn’t easy and there was no way I was getting two palettes in one month. I am quite disciplined with my expenses.

I know this product has been out for a couple of months in the States and in Canada but living in Asia means we are kinda delayed with some releases. Thus, this delayed reaction.

Packaging

The medium-sized, round packaging is something that I love about it. The gold colour paired with the black lettering (thank goodness they didn’t go for their usual purple) also made it look classy. It’s also a bit heavy thanks to the metal base of the palette, giving it a luxurious feel to it.

The top has a gold tin foil feel with on the top but a certain bounce to it kinda makes me think of faux leather. I could be wrong though. I do find it pretty although I doubt the shine will last. Also, it’s very prone to scratches so if you’re particular about that, you’ll really have to be careful with this palette. Especially if you plant to bring it with you when you travel.

One thing I can say that I don’t like about the packaging is how the pans were positioned. Yes, I love the round palette and its size but I just find the pans too close to each other. If you’re using a full-sized brush, there is always the danger of getting some of the bristles into the other pans.

This won’t be a problem if you’re using travel-sized brushes though and if you’re careful.

Beauty: MAC x Ellie Goulding Collection (I’ll Hold My Breath Blush Duo, Only You Lipstick)

Makeup brands have been collaborating with some of my most favourite artists which makes me a very happy girl. I’ve been listening to Ellie Goulding long before she became way too popular. Admittedly, I’m partial to her earlier songs and albums but I guess it’s nice to see her grow as an artist.

When MAC announced that they’re having a collaboration with her, I knew I had to get something from it just cos it’s Ellie (I would do the same if Robyn was the one MAC’s doing a collab with. Which reminds me – when is MAC ever collaborating with my dear Robyn?!).

While photos of the collection got me all excited, my spirits were a bit dampened when a friend and some beauty bloggers online mentioned that the colours were too light. And some were quite disappointed due to the colours being way too ordinary.

Finally, I got back from our Japan trip on the 3rd (the collection launched in KL on 1 January and the 7th for Japan!) and I was able to actually check the collection out for myself. I got two items from it which I think were well worth it. Read on for the review of the I’ll Hold My Breath Blush Duo and the Only You Lipstick from this collection! 😉

Beauty + Review: Sephora Blush Me Twice Duo Versatile No 2

Sephora, Blush Me Twice, Duo Versatile No 2, Review, Beauty Blogger

Here’s a really quick review on my current favourite blush/bronze duo. I’ve been using this for months and I’ve already been hitting pan on this baby.

I bought Sephora’s Blush Me Twice months ago, thinking that it was going to be something that’s worth my money having these two must-haves for a price that’s only a wee bit higher than if I were getting a full-sized blush from the same brand.

The shades that this compact comes with are brown and apricot.

Brown is a dark-tanned coloured powder that has a matte finish while Apricot is peachy-pink with a slight sheen from the fine golden glitter in the powder.
