Beauty + Review: Let’s Talk Hair Removal – Sumuzu Treatment

**TMI Post. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Also, no prudes please.**

Unwanted body hair has always been the bane of my existence. Okay, I’m exaggerating. But really, unwanted hair removal is something that I’ve dabbled with for years.

Being half-European and half-Asian, I was born with crazy hair growth rates. I came out with a full head of hair and through the years, I realised that it only takes literally months for me to go from having a bob to medium-length hair. I grew my bob into waist-length hair in less than a year, I tell you.

And while I’m happy with the close to bionic hair growth rate I have for my head, I would have to admit that body hair wise, it’s the same. And it’s not as fun.

Beauty + Video: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, Eye Makeup for Glasses

Hello my loves! Today’s feature will be on the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette. My sister who lives in Denmark sent me this as a gift recently and obviously, I was way too thrilled when I got it.

I just want to share this quick review of the palette before moving on to a video tutorial at the end of this post on how I use this palette to make my eyes look bigger – especially when I’m wearing my glasses. 🙂 I’m nearsighted, just in case you’re wondering and lenses for my eyes, often make them look smaller.

This is my first Too Faced Chocolate palette. I know – how in the world was I able to resist the first two, right? I guess it’s because I’m more of a lipstick collector and I felt that I always have more than enough eye shadows.

Of course, after going down the beauty blogging rabbit hole, that way of thinking has now gone out the window and I find myself struggling harder to resist palettes.

Oh, and before I move on into the review, I just wanted to share with you guys that you can now get your favourite Too Faced Products via Sephora online! 😉 It’s great to have an online option, especially if you’re having a lazy day and you just want to do your shopping on your couch while you have a face mask on.

Packaging

I love the sturdy, metal case of this palette. It’s great for traveling since I know the eyeshadows inside will be perfectly safe. The case is a soft pink and the lettering comes in gold and white and most of the shadows come in heart-shaped pans. Girly? Definitely.

Normally, I would go for classic or sleek packaging for makeup (except Sailor Moon makeup!) and girly-looking products usually have me thinking that they’re too kiddish for my taste but this palette has so many other great qualities that actually helped me overlook the cutesy-ness of it all.

Beauty + Review: Tarteist Contour Palette

Tarte, Tarteist, Contour, Contour Powder, Highlight, Corrector, Blush, Beauty, Makeup, Review

Hello, my loves. I’m back once again with a palette review for you guys. I know what you may be thinking right now and I agree with you.

I don’t need another contouring product but alas – Tarte got to me. I recently got the Tarteist Contour Palette because I easily cave like that. To be honest, I was actually thinking long and hard whether to go for the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette or this one. The decision wasn’t easy and there was no way I was getting two palettes in one month. I am quite disciplined with my expenses.

I know this product has been out for a couple of months in the States and in Canada but living in Asia means we are kinda delayed with some releases. Thus, this delayed reaction.

Packaging

The medium-sized, round packaging is something that I love about it. The gold colour paired with the black lettering (thank goodness they didn’t go for their usual purple) also made it look classy. It’s also a bit heavy thanks to the metal base of the palette, giving it a luxurious feel to it.

The top has a gold tin foil feel with on the top but a certain bounce to it kinda makes me think of faux leather. I could be wrong though. I do find it pretty although I doubt the shine will last. Also, it’s very prone to scratches so if you’re particular about that, you’ll really have to be careful with this palette. Especially if you plant to bring it with you when you travel.

One thing I can say that I don’t like about the packaging is how the pans were positioned. Yes, I love the round palette and its size but I just find the pans too close to each other. If you’re using a full-sized brush, there is always the danger of getting some of the bristles into the other pans.

This won’t be a problem if you’re using travel-sized brushes though and if you’re careful.

Beauty + Skincare: Kosé’s Sekkisei Trial Kit

Kose, Kose Japan, Kose Malaysia, Sekkisei, Sekkisei Trial Kit, Sekkisei Lotion, Sekkisei Emulsion, Sekkisei Face Wash, Sekkisei Mask, Skincare, Beauty, Review

Hello, my loves. Today, we’re back with another skincare review on a line that I only finished trying out recently.

I’m talking about Japanese brand Kosé’s Sekkisei line which I used right after trying out the Mentholatum Botanics range. I wanted to post this entry sooner, to be honest. But seeing as I only have one face, I do take a while in reviewing products. And I did promise you guys that you only get quality posts (that I would work hard on) in this blog, right? 😉

The Sekkisei line has been around for 30 years, this line boasts of an age-old ‘beautiful, translucent skin recipe’ that is said to be gentle yet effective in brightening and evening-out one’s skin tone.

You may remember that I got a pretty big package like other bloggers from my friend Tammy‘s community – The Butterfly Project.

Inside the humungous box filled with balloons was the Sekkisei trial kit which is perfect for traveling. As someone who travels a lot, I really do appreciate it when companies make such sets. It makes it easier to pack and unpack when you have everything in one to-go bag.Continue reading

Beauty: Mentholatum Botanics Skin Care

Hello, my loves. Entries have been delayed as – once again – the husband and I have been traveling (typing this on the plane back to KL, to be honest). Alvin had to go to Manila for some meetings at the home office and I decided to tag along so I can do some errands and meet up with my friends. (A post on this later, maybe?)

But enough with the excuses/update and on to the topic of this post!

Before we left for Manila on the last week of February, I was trying out Mentholatum‘s new range of cleansers called Botanics.

Mentholatum, Botanics, Skincare, Beauty, Japanese, Tea Tree, Rose, Jasmine, Foam Cleanser, Cream Cleanser, Hydrating, For Oily Skin, For Dry Skin,

The launch of this new range was quite timely since I have been experiencing some changes when it came to my skin. I’ve always had Sahara-dry skin but recently, I have been having on and off oily days.

I even had yet another break out on my chin in early February. Eeep!

It was right around that time that I decided to try out the Botanics range to see which one will work for me.

Mentholatum, Botanics, Skincare, Beauty, Japanese, Tea Tree, Rose, Jasmine, Foam Cleanser, Cream Cleanser, Hydrating, For Oily Skin, For Dry Skin,

They have quite a wide range of products to deal with every skin type. The cleansers themselves come in three types:

Beauty + Video: Strobing vs Contouring

Right before my husband and I left for Manila, my dear friend Samia and I shot another video together! This time, we took on strobing and contouring!

Check out which one loves which! And hopefully, this video may also be helpful to people trying to decide which of the two may be best for them for a certain makeup look!

Enjoy! <3

More later!

Love,

Carol

Beauty + Video: Physicians Formula arrives in Malaysia!

dsc02465-1_zpsqsbkvkkt

So a lot of people here in KL got totally excited when it was announced that Physicians Formula is coming. I, myself included.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch and instead of posting about the event itself, I decided to do a first impressions video on some of the products they gave us!

That’s a lot more interesting, right?

Before I jump right into it, just a quick background on the brand. Physicians Formula is an American brand founded by allergist Dr. Frank Crandall who created a unique line of cosmetics for his wife who had sensitive skin. Now that’s what you call love! 😉 Their products are known for being friendly to your skin as they don’t have parabens, fragrance, and other ingredients that could cause harm to your skin. They’re all hypoallergenic and tested by dermatologists too. 😉

Here in Malaysia, you can get your Physicians Formula fix exclusively in Watsons stores. 😉

Beauty + Video: Osyean Pure Collagenoir

Hello, my loves. I’m back with another review and this time, it’s going to be about this product that I didn’t expect to fall in love with.

I’ve tried a lot of serums and creams that’s supposed to slow down the ageing process and I have to say that this is one of the products that I really loved. I’m going to share with you a video review on it but if you’d rather read about it for more details, you will find all the information after the jump!

When I was first approached by Beaunistry to review Osyean, I thought it was gonna be just like every product out there. The beauty industry does have companies that tend to oversell and under deliver. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the results I got from it. Of course, no product is perfect. So you will have to read on till the end for my balanced review on this product. 🙂

But before we start, a little background on my skin. I’m aware that not all products work similarly for every person who tries it. There are many factors to this but I think the biggest one would have to be one’s skin type. Since it worked well for me, I guess I should tell you about my skin first.

I personally have dry skin that tends to be dull unless I am religious with the scrubbing and brightening products. I am also prone to sun damage. I think this product works really well with people who have a similar skin type to mine. (If you have oily/sensitive skin, do let me know how this product works for you! I’m very much interested!)
