Getting a Facial at Club Olympus, Grand Hyatt Berlin

The past couple of months have been quite hectic, to say the least. I went back to Youtube, I took on new roles, and I accepted more freelance work. It’s been rewarding but I’m not gonna lie – it really did a number on my stress levels. So, despite my skin getting better over the summer, I experienced breakouts and hives anew. At some points, I was rather dehydrated and was running on little sleep that it started showing on my skin. So an invitation to the Grand Hyatt Berlin‘s Club Olympus was much more than welcome.

It’s hardly my first time coming to the Grand Hyatt here in Berlin. Having covered the Berlinale before for Forbes and Rappler, I’ve spent some time in the hotel doing press registrations and attending press conferences. So the hotel really does have a special place in my heart.  I met Wes Anderson and Tilda Swinton in their premises for the first time and those instances definitely make it to my list of memorable times in Berlin.

Modern Filipiniana: Mix and Match Terno Top

One of the things I often get asked about is my Modern Filipiniana wardrobe. For real and not just that thing influencers on Instagram say to justify an overshare. A Filipiniana section in my wardrobe is something that I’ve started building back in 2014. This was when my husband got assigned abroad.

I continue to build said wardrobe as we do need to attend a lot of events where wearing Filipiniana is actually a good way to go. This isn’t just to follow the dress code but to make sure I also get to do my part in promoting a really interesting bit of our culture.

One of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe is my terno top. It’s so versatile that it makes mixing and matching it with different pieces a breeze.

In this video, I share some tips on how to build your own modern Filipiniana wardrobe. I also show how I style my custom-made terno top with different modern pieces that I already own.

Hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful. If you did, please do share it! It would really make my day. Here’s a Pinterest-friendly graphic to make it easier!

More later.

VIDEO: Is Hard Water Causing/Aggravating Your Breakout?

One of the things that really shocked me when we moved to Berlin was the water quality. Don’t get me wrong. It’s healthy enough for infants and has lots of minerals which are good for you. However, those said minerals weren’t so kind to my skin and hair.

If you recently moved to a place with hard water and you noticed that your skin is dry and worse, breaking out, hard water may be one of the culprits. You can also attribute hair fall as well as limp strands and oily scalp to it.

The Complete Guide: Wearing High Heels (in Europe)

I’m in my 20s and I can honestly say that it now takes so much to make my feet hurt. And it’s all because of my love for some high heels.

It started years ago. Every time we would buy school shoes, I would try to get my grandmother to buy me something with a bit of a heel. High enough to make me feel like an adult, but not too high that would make my teachers at my (very) Catholic high school send me to the disciplinary office.

Skincare Review: The Face Shop’s Yehwadam Revitalising Serum and Snow Lotus Pearl Capsule

This year’s first skin care review goes to two new products from The Face Shop that have floored me. Like I said a couple of posts ago, I would be a little more picky when it comes to what I feature on this space so as to give you guys more curated content and I think these new products are a good way to start that new policy.

So The Face Shop recently came out with a new range called Yehwadam and I was able to try their Revitalising Serum and the Snow Lotus Brightening Pearl Capsule Cream. Both are great if you’re looking into adding some oomph into your night time routine – especially on the anti-ageing department.

It’s literally a few days from Christmas and I feel like an exhausted elf working in the North Pole. While buying gifts and wrapping them are fun, I have to admit that it can really take its toll on me, physically. In fact, I’m typing this at 1:30 in the morning after finishing up another batch of gifts.

However, I just know that I had to log in real quick here to share with you some good news. The Body Shop here in Malaysia has launched an online shopping app! You know what this means, right? You can now shop for your favourite shower gels and body butters on the go!
