A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to La Biosthetique’s Press Launch held in Damansara Perdana. I was thrilled, of course, as La Biosthetique is one of the salon-exclusive brands that I trust and I’m happy to find them here in Malaysia!
It’s always so comforting to know that there’s a go-to brand you can choose in a salon even when you’re in a different country. 😉 I’ve trusted La Biosthetique ever since it was first introduced to me in Europe a couple of years ago and my impression hasn’t changed.
La Biosthetique is a French brand that offers a wide range of products designed for specific needs. The brand started in 1947 when founder Marcel Contier, a biochemist, created Babybios which cured cradle cap – a common issue among infants who were born with weak keratin structure.
From there, La Biosthetique has grown into the trusted head-to-toe brand that uses natural ingredients. One of which, is pure spa water from the Black Forest in Germany!
Contier also developed what he calls the Culture of Total Beauty – the harmonious blend of natural ingredients and scientifically proven research to make quality products. So on board with this concept!
During the event we were showed how trained La Biosthetique stylists check a client’s scalp and recommend the right kind of scalp treatment for them.
Each scalp treatment also starts with the signature La Biosthetique massage. My friend Elana was lucky to experience it first hand on the day of the launch. 😉
La Biosthetique is also not just about keeping your hair and skin cared for. It’s also at the forefront of styling, with a preference for elegant yet chic and modern looks. The brand even has its own makeup line but sadly, they’re not available in Malaysia… yet. 😉
Curious about the scalp treatment, my friend Miriam and I decided to try it out at Andy Ho Haute Coiffure in Pavilion. This was right after my short trip to the Philippines where I spent long hours by the beach and under the cruel, tropical sun. So I know that my scalp has had it pretty rough and is in need of some TLC.
The salon is very La Biosthetique – European and bright with lots of clean white in the interior. It’s got a relaxing ambiance and the staff are very friendly.
My stylist for the day was Vivian who used a nifty tool to show me how my scalp is doing at that moment. And here’s the bad news: it’s really really dry.
I was told that if you’ve got dry skin on your face, most likely, your scalp will also be dry. I never experienced flaking or dandruff before so I always thought I had a healthy scalp just because it wasn’t oily.
But I guess the constant exposure to harsh sunlight and my latest romance with dry shampoo didn’t do my scalp any good.
Vivian also explained what could happen to my scalp in the long run if I don’t treat it. Thankfully, I’m not in the hair loss department yet but it’s a good thing we decided to get our scalp treated early on so as not to get there anymore. I wouldn’t want to lose my precious locks. 🙁
The treatment goes through 4 stages – the massage, the pre-treatment, the cleansing, and the actual scalp treatment that will regenerate the scalp.
Can I just say how much I love the massage? It’s so relaxing that I wanted to sleep right after. 😉 And the aroma therapy oil from La Biosthetique that Vivian used on me smelled so good!
Next, Vivian used a pre-treatment product to soften the dead skin on my scalp. Then comes the washing to take them all off! We spent about a good ten minutes, washing and massaging my scalp and it felt glorious.
After that, Vivian added some more product for maintaining the effects of the treatment and then, it was blow dry time. 😉 I asked them to just blow my hair straight with “C-curls” at the end since my natural curls only prefer air dry. Blow drying makes them wispy and I don’t like it. 😛
Voila! 🙂 Please excuse the under eye circles as it was a very LOOONG and tiring day for me. I had to get up at 5 to help a friend and do a bit of errands by lunch! So the La Biosthetique massage from the treatment was indeed a welcomed development towards the end of the day.
The La Biosthetique scalp treatment costs RM285 (Php3482, EUR71.30, USD78.15) and is available in several salons all over KL. Here’s a list for your reference:
Let me know how it goes for you! :-*

Carol
