A little over a week ago, I was invited with some of my blogger friends to a Domino’s Pizza event. I wasn’t going to say no as it’s common knowledge that I’m a huge fan of the pizza place – I practically abuse their online delivery service on days when I feel lazy to cook. (Yes, there are days like that. Shh!)
We usually order the Meatasaurus pizza with an ‘Extreme Edge’ which translates to an all-meat pizza with cheese inside the crust! Ah. So sinful but so good!
At the event, it was announced that the Domino’s is yet again coming up with ways to keep me from actually dieting! 😉 The first is the company’s sweeping declaration that they will not be passing on the 6% Goods and Services Tax (GST) the Malaysian government will start implementing on April 1st (today!) to their customers.
With the hashtag #PaySameOrLess, Domino’s Pizza General Manager for Operations in Singapore and Malaysia Shamsul Amree promised everyone at the event that their customers will either pay the same price for their favourite pizzas or even less.
During the Q&A, I just had to ask – how are they going to do it? Most companies would have to pass on to their customers the 6% tax increase so as not to affect their profits. Mr Amree says that this is due to a special deal with their suppliers. However, there’s no need to worry as he promised that their pizzas will still have the same quality and the amount of toppings won’t even go down.
Another announcement the company made is their new menu item: The Golden Chicken. Imagine a pizza – but instead of bread as a crust, you get a chicken breast fillet. Sounds super yummy right?
The Golden Chicken comes in four variants.
- The Golden Mediterranean Chicken (sweet, tangy)
- The Golden Italiano Chicken (mildly spicy, buttery, pesto sauce)
- The Golden Outback Chicken (smoky, savoury, bbq sauce)
- The Golden Mexican Chicken (chilli flakes, sweet-spicy, pineapples, salsa)
We were able to try the different variants of the Golden Chicken and so far, the The Golden Mediterranean Chicken is my favourite. I love the olives and the tomatoes blending with the intense flavour of the cheese. The Mexican variant is a bit to spicy for me.
The serving is quite big and I can’t finish one by myself so it’s actually good for sharing. The flavours can also be intense that’s why it’s hard to finish it by yourself. Personally I would love to eat it with some rice. Lol. How Asian of me, right?
The Golden Chicken retails for RM10.50 (Php126.56, EUR2.64, USD2.84).
Let me know if you’ve tried it and what you think of it! 🙂
Love,
Carol
