The holidays are coming! Being the Gemini that I am, I have to admit that I have a split personality/opinion when it comes to the holidays. I can go from grinch (cos of preparations) to little, giddy girl (cos of Christmas food) in a matter of seconds.
For today, however, let’s talk about one of the best things about the holidays – food! Christmas is definitely a holiday that brings people together and what better way to celebrate than over a great meal?
I was lucky enough to be invited to the preview of Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur‘s Rustic Regale menu for the holidays so I thought I’d share with you guys how it was! In the spirit of public service, of course! Don’t worry. I will be keeping this one short and sweet so you can enjoy more of the photos and give them a call to reserve after reading this post. 😉
Inside the hotel is Tao Chinese Cuisine which was given the ‘Best 5 Flavours of Asia’ award at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2013 – 2015. It is known for traditional Chinese dishes that are served in a modern way.
From 24-26 of December, they will be having a special, holiday menu that’s available for lunch and dinner. It’s got six courses and features truffle oil fried rice.
Yes, truffle! Mmm. Yum.
In the photograph above was our appetiser plate featuring bits and bobs from the full menu:
- Smoked Duck Jellyfish Roll
- Deep-Fried Kataifi Scallop Longan Ball with Honey Wolfberry Dressing
- Glazed Chicken Roll with Ham, Celery, and Carrot
Meanwhile at Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, they’re having this beautiful creation as part of their enchanting six-course menu. The Seafood Daikon with Yuzu Angkake Sauce (Seafood and Radish cooked in Japanese Citrus Sauce) is as tasty as it is photogenic.
If you’re more of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas food, head on over to Serena Brasserie for the holiday buffets. There’s Christmas Eve Dinner as well as brunch and dinner on Christmas Day itself. If you have kids, go for brunch as Santa Claus will be making an appearance. Send them off to him for some moments of peace while dining. 😉
The brasserie will feature a carving station with Whole Roasted Turkey with Stuffing, Brussels Sprouts, Caramelised Chestnuts, Giblet Juice, and Cranberry Sauce. Definitely a good way to celebrate, don’t you think?
There’s some really good Duck Leg Confit with Grilled Endives and Mini Lobster Thermidor with Creamy Mushroom and Pomery Mustard as well. Spoiler alert: The lobsters were divine.
For dessert, there’s Traditional Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce. Sweets with alcohol? Why don’t mind if I do.
While the pudding was good and my love for good alcohol would dictate that I pick that as my favourite from this holiday spread that we had, I must admit that it’s the Raspberry Double Mango Yule Log that won my heart.
You can also say goodbye to 2016 in style at the countdown at IVIV (OneSixFive)! And just in case you end up having a little too much to drink at the party, there’s going to be the Hangover Brunch at the brasserie where you can have as many Bloody Marys as you want – food too, of course. 😉
Call +603 2782 6000 to make your reservations.
Hope this helps people still looking for a special way to celebrate the holidays! Cheers!
Love,
Carol
